Tracy is the former District Attorney of Clayton. She held the post of District Attorney for ten (10) years, from 2009 to 2019, and she has tried an incredible number of diverse and complex cases in criminal law. All of her trials were affirmed on appeal. She was named 2015 District Attorney of the Year in Georgia and is a past president of the District Attorney’s Association of Georgia. During her time as the District Attorney, Tracy created a pre-trial diversion program with over 3,000 graduates and a very low recidivism rate. Her leadership brought quicker case resolution and the lowest unindicted inmate population of major metro counties in Georgia, along with an increase in successful prosecutions.

In December of 1995, Tracy began her work as an Associate Judge, and later a Judge in the Juvenile Court of Clayton County. During this time, she presided over delinquency, dependency (deprivation), termination of parental rights, custody, and traffic hearings. Her decisions were never reversed on appeal. In addition, she created a Second Chance Drug Court and helped to formulate the Student Based Protocol, which has led to a drastic reduction in delinquency filings, lower truancy rates, increased graduation rates, and higher test scores. As a result of her work and her colleagues’ work, the Clayton County Juvenile Court was recognized as a national model and an Annie E. Casey Foundation site.

Tracy received her law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law and her undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology from Duke University, where she was Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Prior to becoming a Juvenile Court Judge, Tracy was an Assistant District Attorney for ten years where she tried many difficult cases. In addition, during her time as an Assistant District Attorney, Tracy created the Asset Forfeiture Division, in which she maintains a strong expertise in addition to her Juvenile Delinquency Defense and Criminal Defense Practice. Prior to becoming an attorney, Tracy served as a Public Safety Officer in Durham, NC where she performed law enforcement and firefighter duties.
